Using ICT in the form of e-office

Introduction

Office building usually set in business district offer a very high price for the people who wants to acquire only temporary office. The office building do not offer facilities other than space, air conditioned rooms, basic telephone lines and perhaps pantry or canteen. The e-office initiative will offer more versatile products using ICT for enhanced use of office facilities other than space rentals. The e-office will make use of ICT to lower office (communication) cost and offers more facilities rather than to invest separately. The e-office is also designed to accommodate short term project or business that do not require longer time than its needed for. This design will offer a much reduced cost for the people or company who want to use the e-office for temporary businesses.

Communication is considered expensive because the telephone rates are charged according to distances and on duration of the call. Using ICT can lower the communication charges between parties and directly improves the lives of the beneficiaries. This project initiative will offer competitive price using available ICT facilities and services within an e-office solution.

The e-office will create more opportunities using internet as enhanced value and make use of ICT to improve their lives. The e-office will also give job opportunities for the locals who wants to learn more from the e-office.

The e-office will give a chance for the community or people who wants to make use of the facilities without having the need to own one or to invest by their own separately. In this case they do not have to use their own home for office use and the e-office is the hub for doing their businesses.

This e-office will serve local community of 10,000 to 50,000 people located in a very dense population but not in the business district area. The e-office is targetted to medium to lower income of the community.

This e-office will also educate the community on using the advantage of ICT and to the less educated or possibly "the lost generation" because of the economic poverty; i.e. those who has not got the chance to get further education.

Results expected from the e-office concept are lowering office cost for doing businesses therefore encouraging the real sector economics to grow by inventing new product of enhanced value using ICT as a method. This e-office concept will have direct impact to the community.

Project Initiative

The e-office initiative is offered as an alternative solution to reduce common office cost as to empower the community. The e-office is designed to offer more versatile products using ICT as enhanced value for office representation and therefore will offer the community to get a lesser cost on doing business without the need to invest separately.

The e-office is intended to fill the needs of temporary businessmen looking for the above representation and for the underdeveloped community to use the information facility as to enhance social and economic growth. The people who use the facilities do not have to invest on office space, furnitures, office machines, personnels, etc.

The e-office is also offered to compete with building designed specifically for office use as the price is growing higher for space in the business district and offer alternative solution for business address or temporary office for ongoing project(s). The e-office is the communication and information hub for doing their businesses.

The e-office initiative is believed to be a relatively new and innovative concept compared to conventional office rental at the business district and offered for the lesser community in doing their businesses, i.e. those who can not afford to rent at the office building.

Target community is in the very dense population that would sustain the project after the funding ended. This e-office will serve local community of 10,000 to 50,000 people located in a very dense population but not in the business district area. Marketing strategy will be made to offer competitive price for the facilities. The higher price of office building rentals will block the lesser community in doing their businesses, therefore the e-office concept will give an alternative solution for office representation using ICT as enhanced value.

Seed funding and Sustainability

The e-office itself is intended to self sustain with a basic set of products ranging from office representation to temporary space rentals equipped with office facilities and connectivity that will provide continual incomes within six months after completion of the project or ten months from the day of inception.

A seed funding is needed to develop the e-office facilities for realization of the project initiative. After the incubation period of six months has ended, the e-office is subjected to sustain from incomes gaining from the facilities and services avail. Within this six months of incubation period, the services and facilities of the e-office is to be marketed for public use and promoted as business models aimed to the SME sectors.

Small scale businesses would take advantage of this facilities of the e-office since they will get a lesser cost to do their businesses and a possibility to market globally. The e-office will also provide data dissemination and centre of information for the community.

The community will be able to get information and particularly first hand data gathered by the e-office. The e-office initiative will open other opportunities such as e-commerce and further VoIP application as more products or ICT regulations to come after the completion of the six months funded operation.

Training and Development

The e-office is used for training purposes for the implementation of e-office concept elsewhere by means of conducting seminars or conferences and for making business model that suit small and medium scale enterprises. A project for distributing the knowledge is created for training and development of training materials using the available e-office facilities after the project start off.

The project will provide development of training materials in building business models suitable for the SME sectors. The project will provide training by conducting seminars or conferences on using the e-office concept as an alternative to reduce office cost with related comparison to office rentals in business district.

For knowledge distribution, the e-office concept is to be replicated elsewhere by means of business models during the six months operational.
